Funds Management
Wingate Asset Management, a joint venture with Australian Unity Investments (AUI), is a specialised investment manager of international equities. Wingate manages two Global Equity funds, the Wingate Global Equity Income Fund and the Wingate Spectrum Fund.
Both funds display several unique characteristics, including the generation of a high level of income that provides a downside buffer and a fee structure tailored to the Group’s firm-wide approach of aligning itself with its clients’ interests.
Wingate’s partner, Australian Unity Investments, is the funds management arm of financial services, health and retirement living services provider Australian Unity. Australian Unity has over $10 billion in funds under management across property, equities and fixed income asset classes.
Wingate Global Equity Fund
The Wingate Global Equity Fund invests in large capitalisation, high quality globally listed companies. The Fund’s objective is to outperform the MSCI World (ex Australia) Index by 2% over rolling three year periods. The Fund is managed with a unique investment strategy which combines capital growth with income generation. A key feature of the Fund’s investment process is the sale of put options with strike prices below identified entry prices. Importantly, the Fund does not employ leverage and all option positions are fully cash backed.
Income generated by the Fund through this process provides a significant buffer in the event of market weakness and enables a reasonable expectation of positive returns in most market conditions over the long term.

Wingate Spectrum Fund
The Wingate Spectrum Fund (Spectrum) targets the same high quality companies as the Wingate Global Equity Income Fund but has a more aggressive investment mandate. Investors should consider an investment in Spectrum as more speculative given its focus on shorter-term investment opportunities and use of leverage through the options market to generate returns.
