The Wingate Global Equity Income Fund is a large cap, global equities fund. The Fund’s investment process starts by rigorously filtering companies into an investable universe comprising shares that exhibit both lower relative risk and attractive upside potential. Identified opportunities are exploited at prices that are assessed as being below their fair value.
A key differentiating feature of the Fund's investment process is the sale of put options with strike prices below identified entry prices as opposed to the traditional purchase of shares on market. Positions will usually be exited via the sale of call options on part or all of the existing holdings.
The income generated by the Fund through this process provides a significant buffer in the event of market weakness and enables a reasonable expectation of positive returns in most market conditions.
Importantly the Fund mandate prohibits leverage. All option positions written are fully cash backed, eliminating any derivative-related margin risk.
The portfolio comprises 15-40 individual positions (including options).
The Fund generates profits from the following sources:
1. Premiums received on written put and call options (always covered positions)
2. Dividends received on shares
3. Capital appreciation of shares
4. Interest received on cash balances
